The idiots on the airport have taken my toothpaste from my hand luggage because it was 125ml - it was not full so it contained less than the allowed 100ml. Whoever made the rules was complete idiot. I apologize for the language but I could not help myself.

Lost my toothpaste last time, too. On the other hand, also idiots create new businesses: The local dental stuff store has now a special corner for toothpastes with less than 100 ml. Check it out next week on Schadowstrasse ...
It's too hard to check for being partly full; simpler to assume that a 125-ml tube contains 125 ml of ... whatever it might contain. The judgment is that 125 ml of anything is not a serious threat, particularly when you are limited to a total of less than 1 liter of liquids and gels. This may be right or wrong, but at least it's rational.
